thank you so much for the info and I do receive a disability check for my son $478  a month as far as child support he lost all parental rights and cannot come within 25 ft of my children or myself. We went through a program called Safe Haven and were assigned a public defender who got us $850 a month but turned around and asked to have his rights taken away therefore he is not responsible for childsupport or he would  have  to know where we live and that ould be bad very bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The daily abuse both physical and mental were so bad that a judge awarded us the priveledge of chanhinOnce again thank you so much fot the advice its greatly appreciated

Check everything on craigslist - if you have items to sell, furniture.. etc. Jewelry, you can cash in your gold. Take stuff to a consignment shop. Ask Amvets or ask Goodwill for direction. Ask the church to refer you. Go to social services. Do computer searches high and low.

Sell off all you can. Look on craigslist for what people are looking for. If you have it, sell it. I have had to part with very sentiment items (my mom's jewelry after she passed away a pauper) and it ripped my heart out but I still have a roof over my head for my 3 kids and my son's g/f that I took in.

Never say never and always keep looking. What is meant to be will happen, but you will learn and become stronger once you get past it. You are probably in your darkest hour which means prepare for battle. STand super strong, steadfast, and beleive in yourself (provided you are morally true) and you will be set on your feet.

It works. Be stubborn but willing to accept a lesser style of living- you will look back and remember you stayed strong, focused, and had to part with things you didnt want to (sacrifice) but that's what its all about.

 You get out what you put in. Pour everything you got into keeping your roof.

I am a mom of 2  My abusive husband left us and I have struggled every since my car was repoed and after that everything seemed to go downhill. I recieved a letter on my door today saying that I have to pay 994.07 by 1/15/10 oer they will set mt things out. I went to my church for help but, unfortunately they did not have the funds. Hello all and Happy early Christmas. I am writing on this page because someone referred me to try and help with my small financial problem. I have very little propane in my tank and my gas company refuses to fill the tank unless I pay COD, which is impossible for me because I am on disability and get paid on the 3rd of the month. I just put 100 gallons in the tank at the beginning of the month and it cost me $254 and it has been so cold here and with my Multiple Sclerosis I cannot stand the cold, so my propane is now down to a little under 10% and I am afraid it will run out before I can get some more money next month. My daughter has helped me as much as she can, but she is a single mom of 2 small children and barely makes $800/month and cannot spare much to help me. So, I guess what I am asking is if anyone out there knows where I could contact to get help paying the gas company the $254 to get me another 100 gallons of gas, that should get me by until my daughter gets her income taxes next month. If anyone has any ideas, please, I would greatly appreciate it. I hope everyone finds the answer to their prayers this holiday season and God Bless you all and your families. If some one can help, it would be greatly appreciated.  We need help with our electric and phone bills and some minor car repairs.  I have lost my job and my daughter is pregnant (due anytime) and still working but not bringing home the income that that is needed.  I will be starting back to school next month and will hopefully with God's help have a better and stable financial future.  We have cut everything back to the bare bones, only the essentials.  If some one can direct me to the right sources, we would certainly appreciated it.

Hunny I can't help you, but there is one person who can...Dave Ramsey. I am currently half way through his program financial peace university and I can tell you it is helping!! First and foremost, GO TO CHURCH. God can solve ALL your problems. The Bible says His grace is sufficient for ALL our needs...not just some of them. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, and he will direct your paths". Second, ask the church to sponsor your Dave Ramsey package - it's $100. Third, learn to sew! Shop at thrift stores! You do NOT need to eat meat to survive. I promise. My household is vegan. We eat no meat/cheese/dairy, anything...you CAN survive of rice and beans. Eat a variety of beans...black, pinto, lima (white and green)...it can be quite fun to try all the different kinds. Eat rice and beans every other day. Make a whole  bag, maybe two. The leftovers you put over a bag of lettuce the next night and make a meatless taco salad (this is best with black or pinto beans). Next night, try a different kid of beans. Mash leftover beans and combine with flour (and some onion/spices, whatever) and make bean cakes. Fry lightly in some oil...now you have bean cakes! It's high protein, high fiber, high nutrition - natures perfect food.

You have a cosmetology license? Put a sign in your yard!! Pass out notes in the grocery store! Open up your own shop in your own house sweety! $10/cut! People will flock!

Look this up in the phone book : (your county name) Emergency Association. So if you live in Shelby county, you look up Shelby Emergency Association. They will help you get on your feet again. Also, go to (your county name) Baptist Association. They also supply food and other assistance (like clothes, rent/mortgage assistance, power bill assistance, and appliances if yours breaks).

Wow I never thought I would ever be in this position!  I am suffering from Gillian Barre and have lost my home, my job and my self esteem.  I have applied for dessability retirement but it wont even be approved for 4 more months-if at all.  I cant get on unemployment because I cant work and my van payment is 2 months behind.  they call me every 2 hours threatening me and making me feel horrible.  I told them to come repo it but they yell and say if they do I will be responsible for the repo fee, the impound fee and whatever is left after they sell it at aution.  Life is a 5 edged sword ya know!  I feel confident that I will be approved for dissability but in the mean time my life is very stressfull.  If anyone has any suggestions as to where to turn for temporary relief please send me a message.  Thank you.

I am looking for a grant to rehab my home in hampton roads, virgina into a house for women with children in transition due to being widowed, abussed etc.  I know sometimes women just need a break to get on their feet while they complete school, and find employment...etc.  Sometimes these women are put in the position to do thing just to survive and that isn't right.  Anyway if anyone has information I would really appreciate it.

Christams Eve that is but Christmasis in one hr... went to church felt great...Still dealing   with the same things as I ahvent really  got any great info but of what I did thnaks  to all whom have put in suggestions to me I am still trying to get things back on track and its not easy as we seem to all be struggling its not as always like robbing Peter to pay Paul Peter is mad at Paul now gee cant do It no funds gee the way it is...Now its being minus almost 1,000 and then the taxes on the house now 2 years and the car ins trhe bills when does it stop ? I recently lost a lot of hours at work to try to better myself. I left work early several times to try to obtain my CDL license to try to better our family income.

While I have my CDL license now, I currently don't have the money to fix the family car. Needless to say I need a function and safe car to get to my job(s).

My car really needs a tune up since it is spitting and sputtering and also new tires to get through the snow since mine have zero traction. I really don't like taking my children in the car but what do I do?

This guy has gone threw so much to keep his family together only for the mother to walk out and leave him with the kids.

hello everyone. is there anyone out there that can help me? i am a single mom of two who is going thru some rough times. i am facing eviction, behind on everything and afraid the kids will not have a christmas. i have literally applied for everything. i get 520.00 a month from the state and thats it. that pays for nothing. i have a heart condition that is keeping me from working at this time. supposed to have surgery within a month. i have no one but my kids and just want to get back on my feet somehow. anything would help at this time. i have nothing and no where to go. i promise that when i am better i will give back to. please if anyone can help at all....

I quit my job. Dumbest thing I ever did. Even if they did merge with another company and completely ruin my 401, all the benefits I earned in the 10 years I was there. Even though I went from a Supervisor to basically cleaning out cubicles. I thought my skills would get me a better or atleast a decent job, quick. I should have known better. Man (or Woman, in my case) plans. God Laughs. God is laughing hysterically right now. I was living paycheck to paycheck before but what I have now is far worse. I have to pay a $365.00 school loan, that is under MY mother's name and in DEFAULT because she never tried to talk to the lenders when I asked---no make that---begged her to! She figured it was my problem since she took them out for me. So, I have to pay them. I have to pay my rent. Actually, I haven't even paid it yet. I have electricity to pay too. But the worst thing is I had to borrow money to do my laundry and I can't even afford deodorant and soap. Have I learned my lesson? You bet! I am hoping the universe knows this because I am trying so hard to find a job. I am a hardworker and I've never had to sit around the house like this, feeling like a loser for trying to take a chance and do better. If I could punch the crap out of myself I would. I just wish that for all the years I put into that company I could have had a cushion. Unemployment insurance or something. I guess I am not looking for help so much as a miracle. Let this be a lesson to people. Don't be stupid like me. A bad job is better than NO job.

I am so sorry to hear about your family.  Please make sure to check with the local Salvation Army.  They are now taking applications for Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas help.  You might also check with your local Moose Lodge on how to get help with Christmas, if there is one around you.  They are very active in providing Christmas.  May God Bless you and your family.

Hello to anyone out there that can help me and my family! Theses past few years have not been to good for our family money wise like most people. We are a family of five, two girls and one boy and I wouldn't have it any other way! I work in construction pumping concrete for the past seven years now and the work has slowed way down and I mean way down. I changed jobs a year and half ago doing the same thing and this company was doing good so I thought. We rent because our credit is not the greatest and we have moved so many times because we didn't have the money to pay for rent or heating oil. I've put in more job application this year more than anyone has thought about and still putting in and hoping for that one break. I live day to day with the saying "when life gets harder, get tougher". And I have and more aggressive each day. Me and my wife are trying to figure out how to pay the bills and give christmas to the kids this year. We both have family's on each side put there to hung up in there own lives they don't really know we are here. Which sucks because if they would open there eyes and see that the only thing that is important is FAMILY and GOD, we all would be fine. So I'm asking if anyone can help, please do!

We all feel like we have been short changed by the people who should be helping us, I mean, our politicians at the local, state and federal levels.  I see to many people who need help running into block walls. Once again I hear so many promisies from each party, about how much better they are going to improve my life, but I still can't get into a shelter or residential treatment facility, and must continue to sleep and live in my car.  Thank God I have a car.  I haven't found work in six months, not because I don't want to work, but so many companies have gone oversea's that the job opportunities are small and far apart.  I just recieved an extension on my unemployment benefits, so the kids and I can maybe make it for another four months, but what will we do with the winter sneaking up on us?  I was just wondering, that all my friends who share here on Aidpage are more or less in the same boat as I, some in a much more difficult situation.  We all could use a little help but from where will it come?  I thank God that my health is not bad, but if I lose any more benefits or services I might not be able to do my follow up work.  The kids are healthy and still happy, I think they believe our life right now is an adventure, but they are growing fast and starting to compare themself with the other children in school. Is there any way we all here on Aidpage could send our politicians e-mail's or letters asking them to support changes that will help the people most in need?  Let me know what kind of ideas you all have out there.
